Non- Executive Directors
Bob McCann, Chairman
Bob lives in Newtownabbey and is a chartered certified accountant. He has a broad management background having held a number of senior management posts in both the private and public sectors. Bob is also Chair of the Northern Regional College and a member of the NI Valuation Tribunal.Previously, Bob has been a Non Executive Director of Warrenpoint Harbour Authority, a Non Executive Director of Agri Food and Bio Science Institute, a member of the Consumer Council for Northern Ireland, Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee of the NI Commissioner for Children and Young People, an independent member of the Housing Executive Audit Committee, a Non Executive Director of United Hospitals Trust, a member of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal and a Director of Victim Support NI.
Billy Graham, Vice Chair
Billy was Chief Operating Officer for Northern Ireland Electricity for eight years and was a member of the NIE Executive Committee for over 10 years. Corporate Governance and Risk Management were a fundamental part of these roles and he undertook a major project of change management during his time with NIE.Billy also currently holds other public appointments as non-executive Director with the Health and Safety Executive and as a member of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive DLO Performance and Development Committee. He is from Ballyclare and is currently self-employed with a part-time engineering and consultancy business.
Billy is a member of the Trust Assurance Committee, the Remuneration Committee and the Engagement Experience and Equality Committee. He is also Chairman of the Trust Organ Donation Committee.
Paul Corrigan, Non-Executive Director
Paul has taken up post as a non-executive Director for the Northern Trust from 14 March 2016.
Paul is a former Logistics Director for Royal Mail NI. He now works as a self-employed consultant supporting clients in the public and private sector with independent investigations and appeals in workplace disputes.Paul has been a member of the Labour Relations Agency (LRA) panel of Arbitrators and Independent Chairs since 2002, and has conducted numerous arbitration and independent appeal hearings.
Paul is a Non-Executive Board Member for the Local Government Staff Commission (LGSC) providing HR oversight to the 11 Local Councils.
In 2015 Paul was also appointed as a Lay Representative with the Northern Ireland Medical & Dental Training Agency (NIMDTA) and as a Lay Member of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal (SDT).
Paul is married and lives in Randalstown, Co. Antrim.
Jim McCall, Non-Executive Director
Jim has taken up post as a non-executive Director for the Northern Trust from 14 March 2016.
Jim is a qualified professional social worker and has been employed in a variety of professional and senior manager positions during his career. Until recently Jim was Managing Director of Four Seasons Health Care in Northern Ireland and Wales. Prior to taking up this role in 2008, he was Chief Executive of the former Ulster Community and Hospitals Trust.
He is as non-executive Director with Diabetes UK. Jim was appointed to the Board of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive from 1 June 2015 and was appointed to the Board of NI Water from 1 September 2015.
Geraldine McGahey, Non-Executive Director
Geraldine has taken up post as a non-executive Director for the Northern Trust from 14 March 2016. Geraldine stood down as Chief Executive of Larne Borough Council on 1 April 2015 when the new Northern Ireland district councils were formed. During her time as Chief Executive she was the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives & Senior Managers (SOLACE’s) gender champion promoting women in local government, a representative on the Good Relations Panel reporting to the Office of the First and Deputy First Ministers, and an appointee of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister to the Northern Zone Steering Committee for the Social Investment Fund.
Previously, Geraldine was a Building Control Surveyor in Belfast City Council (1993-2001) and Grants Officer with the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (1983-1989).
She received an OBE for services to local government in the New Year Honours list for 2015.
Geraldine currently holds an appointment as an Equality Commissioner for Northern Ireland and is a mentor to the Woman’s Leadership Initiative.
Gerard McGivern, Non-Executive Director
Gerard McGivern is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin, and also holds an MSc in Local Economic Development from the University of Glasgow. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and is the first person on the island of Ireland to be elected fellow to the Institute of Economic Development.He was the founding manager of Banbridge Enterprise Centre and in the 1990’s Gerard established the Development Directorate at Banbridge District Council, with responsibility for economic development, tourism and corporate marketing.
He served as Director of District Development with Newry and Mourne District Council, with responsibility for economic development and tourism, community services, sports, recreation and arts development, Irish language, Ulster Scots and museum services from 2000 to 2015.
During this period Gerard also pioneered a series of cross border economic development initiatives which culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Newry and Mourne District Council and Louth Local Authorities in 2011.
Gerard is currently Chairman of the Livestock and Meat Commission NI appointed by the Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development .He is also a Director of Banbridge District Enterprises Ltd and a Governor of Grange Primary School, Kilkeel.
Glenn Houston, Non-Executive Director
Glenn Houston has 35 years’ experience of working in health and social care in Northern Ireland. He was Chief Executive of the Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority (RQIA) until May 2016. A social worker by profession, Glenn was the first Director of Women and Children’s Services / Executive Director of Social Work in NHSCT. Glenn was previously Chief Executive of the former Craigavon and Bainbridge Community Trust and has held other senior appointments including in the Homefirst legacy trust.
Glenn is currently Chair of the Jersey Care Commission, Deputy Chair of the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), a member of the Board of the Human Tissue Authority and the Public Prosecution Service (PPSNI).
Glenn currently serves on the Trust Board and on a number of Committees including the Assurance Committee, Audit Committee, Charitable Trust Funds Committee and the Engagement, Experience, Equality and Employment Steering Group.
Glenn lives in Co Down.
