Our purpose & goals
The core business of the Northern Trust is to deliver high quality, appropriate, effective and accessible health and social care services for people in our area, that are efficient and represent value for money.
Our corporate goals
We have set a number of principal corporate goals for the next three years. Underpinning these goals is a commitment to delivering quality, person-centred services. That commitment is reinforced by our mission statement :- 'to provide for all, the quality of service we expect for our families and ourselves' and our values.
Everyone in the Trust is expected to contribute to achieving these goals and performance is measured through an accountability framework supported by directorate and service plans and individual performance review.
The principal corporate goals are:
Service delivery
To deliver safe, efficient and effective health and social care services to meet the needs of our population as defined by our local commissioners.
Performance management
To measure performance against identified priorities and targets, seeking to engage everyone in the Trust to achieve a culture of continuous improvement.
Resource management (finance/estate/equipment/technology/information)
To deploy and manage resources to achieve best outcomes and live within resources
Integrated Governance
To have systems and processes in place to lead, direct and control our functions in order to effectively achieve organisational objectives, and to relate appropriately to partner organisations and the wider community.
People
To recruit, retain and develop staff and provide effective leadership throughout the Trust.
Personal and Public Involvement
To work with local communities, service users and carers to improve the quality, safety and effectiveness of services in the Trust.
Modernisation and reform of services
To develop policies, service plans and strategies to modernise and reform services in keeping with safe, modern practice and securing optimum outcomes for service users.
Developing the Northern Trust
Continue to develop integrated systems, structures and effective communication arrangements within the trust to enable us to work
