Our purpose & goals

The core business of the Northern Trust is to deliver high quality, appropriate, effective and accessible health and social care services for people in our area, that are efficient and represent value for money.

Our principal objectives

We have set a number of principal objectives for the next three years.  Underpinning these objectives is a commitment to delivering quality, person-centred services.  That commitment is reinforced by our mission statement, 'to provide for all, the quality of service we expect for our families and ourselves' and our Trust Values.

Everyone in the Trust is expected to contribute to achieving these objectives and performance is measured through an accountability framework supported by directorate and service plans and individual performance review.

The principal objectives are:

  • To provide safe and effective care
  • To create a culture of continuous improvement to maintain quality and access standards
  • To use all of our resources wisely
  • To build a strong management culture with effective leadership and teams that deliver
  • Involving service users, carers and communities in all we do
  • Listen to partners and other stakeholders to improve and develop services
  •

Our Trust Values

The Northern Health and Social Care Trust is committed to the following core values:
  • Patients/clients first
Everything we do in the organisation is ultimately for the benefit of our patients and clients.
  • Excellence
We will be recognised for the provision of safe, high quality, continually improving services.
  • How we do business
We treat each other, our services users, carers and external partners with respect, dignity, honesty and humanity.
