Role of the Domestic Services Department
The aim of Domestic Services is to provide an appropriate standard of service in the most efficient and cost-effective way. The service supports medical, nursing, allied and other services throughout Causeway Health and Social Services Trust by:-
 | Providing a socially acceptable environment. |
| Preventing the spread of infection by effective cleaning. |
| Preserving the fabric, fixtures, fitting and furnishings within the buildings. |
| Providing a safe working environment for patients and staff to meet the requirements of Health and Safety Legislation. |
| Maintaining a trained Domestic Services workforce. |
| Having an appropriate management and supervisory structure. |
| Ensuring good working relationships and communications with other disciplines and service users are established and sustained. |
Services provided by the Domestic Services Department
| A cleaning service for all Trust facilities including Causeway, Robinson and Dalriada Hospitals in adherence with the Trust’s Infection Control Policy. |
| Providing a beverage and food service to clients and staff at Pavestone Centre, Rathmoyle and Armour Resource Centres. |
| A cleaning service for external bodies e.g. Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and Local Health and Social Care Group (LHSCG). |
| Operating a Launderette service at Causeway Hospital. |
| Management of medical staff residential accommodation associated with Causeway Hospital including the provision of a cleaning service. |
| Management, supervision and operation of the autovalet and staff change facilities at Causeway Hospital. |
| Pest Control management. |
| Organisation of measurement, supply and fitting of textiles and floor coverings. |
| Providing expert advice on matters relating to Domestic Services on a Trust-wide basis. |
| Providing a cleaning service for community medical aids and appliances. |
Standards You Can Expect
| Users of the service, whether patients, clients, relatives, visitors or staff can expect to be cared for or to work in a clean and safe environment. |
| In conjunction with ward managers and heads of department, Domestic Services management monitor the quality of cleaning services against set cleaning standards on a regular basis. |
| Domestic Services staff strive to maintain a high quality Domestic Service within Trust facilities. |
