When to get help

Teenage Pregnancy Midwife Service

In the Causeway and Mid Ulster areas we have additional support for teens who are pregnant through our Teenage Pregnancy Midwife service. Support offered by the service includes both group and one-to-one engagement through home visits, texts, Facebook and phone calls.

The project also aims to ensure that teenage mothers have greater access to family planning, sexual health services and advice. Young parents are able to meet each other and provide support to one another.

In the other areas teenage parents can get all help and support they need from their midwife , health visitor & GP and family nurse partnership.

Early Pregnancy Service

Most women do not experience complications in early pregnancy, however, for those who do; it can be a very worrying time.

The Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit (EPAU) is a service available to help women who have concerns or complications between 6 weeks and 20 weeks of pregnancy. The service is staffed by experienced nurses who have additional training in early pregnancy. Any woman who is experiencing any concerns can contact the EPAU for advice. Referrals can be made by yourself, from your GP, Community Midwives or the Emergency Department.
