Sexual health services & where to find us

The Northern Trust's sexual health services are free and open to everyone.  We offer a confidential service which includes access to information and advice, testing, treatment and contraception to people of all ages.  You can refer yourself to our services by contacting the service directly and some of our services also operate a 'walk-in' service.

We realise that it can be daunting using sexual health services but the Northern Trust services are friendly and non-judgemental.  We have teams made up of a consultant, doctors and specialist sexual health and family planning nurses and our team will ensure that you see the right person and that your safety and privacy are our top priority.

We work to reduce barriers to our services by working with partner organisations and taking our clinical services to different locations.  We have access to high quality information and we have information in a range of languages.

Our clinics are based largely in local GP surgeries, hospitals and local colleges to make these accessible across the population in the northern area.  They are offered at a range of times including outside normal working hours.

Please look at our supporting webpages targeting different ages groups and our pages for clinical and non-clinical staff.  We have provided a lot of up-to-date information to support people on a range of issues.

Each of our services operate slightly differently however they are based on common values:

Accessible & Local: We provide both STI testing, treatment and contraception across the Trust area and are working towards making all our services integrated so that we will be able to offer you one appointment to fully look after your sexual health needs.

Friendly and non-judgemental: Our team of experienced specialist clinicians are sensitive to your needs and will respect your right to privacy.

Confidential: Our services are confidential, we operate a separate computer system and information will only be shared with your GP with your consent.

Listen to you: We are keen for feedback on our services and we will ask you to let us know what we are doing well and what we can do better.  We share best practice with other Trusts in NI and have a culture of continuous improvement.

Safe and Consistent: Our services have rigorous standards to adhere to and we have monitoring systems which we report through, on all our services.  We are inspected by the Regulation & Quality Improvement Authority (RQIA) and must work to their recommendations.
