Description: The Age NI Personal Alarm Service gives users the freedom to live independently in their own home, safe in the knowledge that if there is an accident or they have a fall, they can get help quickly. Personal alarms offer peace of mind to friends and family, knowing that if there is an emergency or if assistance is needed, they will be contacted quickly by our emergency response centre.

Provider: Disability Living Foundation

Disabled Facilities Grant
Description: This grant is available from the local council if the service user is disabled and need to make changes to their home, for example installing ramps, or adapting heating or lighting controls. This will not affect any benefits currently received by the applicant.

Good Morning Newtownabbey
Provider: Good Morning Northern Ireland
Description: The Good morning call service seeks to establish, deliver and provide support and information to older or vulnerable people via telephone support through the following: Providing a befriending service through regular telephone contact, Assisting in maintaining the service user's independence, Providing social interaction and reduced social isolation, Encouraging and developing social supports in order to reduce loneliness and isolation.

Home Fire Safety Check
Provider: Fire Service Northern Ireland
Description: The Fire Service of NI helps support older people to live safely and independently in their own home through a free home fire safety check provided by the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service. The home fire safety checks are carried out by operational fire crews from their local station.

PCSP - Policing and Community Safety Partnership – Newtownabbey
Provider: Police Service Northern Ireland
Description: The Policing and Community Safety Partnership Newtownabbey promotes community safety actions and links to policing through various project activities according to annual action plan. For example, current Community Safety Warden Scheme is working with the Trust’s Eldercare team to explore how older people most at risk can be supported. There is also a Causeway VIP (vulnerable isolated persons) scheme which links vulnerable isolated people with the Crime Prevention Officer. A Safe and Sound information roadshow is delivered in November / December in Bushmills, Cushendall and Ballycastle. Neighbourhood Watch. Home Accident Prevention Officer based in Ballymoney Borough Council.

PSNI Crime Prevention Officer
Provider: Police Service of Northern Ireland
Description: Crime Prevention Officer available to provide home security visits to older/vulnerable people who are experiencing fear of crime or who have been a victim of a burglary. The Crime Prevention Officer can make suggestions to improve the security of the home and gives advice on protection from bogus callers and other criminal activity. Community Groups and other organisations can arrange for the CPO to deliver a Talk on Crime Prevention. Stuart Gibson covers Antrim and Newtownabbey.

Provider: Fold Telecare and the Northern Trust
Description: Fold Telecare, in partnership with the Northern Trust provide a selection of telecare sensor demonstrations to Trust staff and service users/ carers on how the sensors work and interact with each other in a home environment. Assistive technology includes bed occupancy sensors, fall detectors, property exit sensors and smoke detectors. These sensors are programmed to Fold’s 24-hour response centre and any installed sensor will trigger a call.
