British Red Cross Home and Well Scheme
Provider: British Red Cross
Components vary but includes: supported hospital discharge transport, befriending, access to wheelchairs, Hand Arm & Shoulder Massage, signposting to other local/specialist services. Aims to be a person-centred service, help people withstand and recover from a Health Social & Care crisis and reaching out to Older people/ Vulnerable. The service aims to support people to experience - Reduced anxiety, Enhanced well-being, Improved confidence, Reduced Isolation, Improved Nutrition, Increased Resilience. Referrals will be taken for individuals; Living distant to families and friends, Being anxious about leaving hospital / recently leaving hospital, At risk of admission to hospital or respite care if practical support is not provided, During / following period of ill health in individuals own home, For a carer with an increased risk of social isolation – in need of emotional or practical support, Support after a recent bereavement, Resident within Northern H&SCT.

Disability Action Transport
Provider: Disability Action
DATS is a local urban transport service for people with disabilities or for those who find it difficult using mainstream public transport. Membership is free but a fare is charged for each trip taken. You will need to complete a membership application form and meet the criteria for membership. The service is available from 8.00am until 8.00pm daily Monday to Friday and from 9.00am until 5.00pm on Saturday and Sunday. On Bank Holidays there is no service. The booking office is open from Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 4.00pm (excluding Public Holidays). As a new member of the Transport service, you can book your first single or return trip within your operational area for free. After that, all single trips within your operational area are charged at £2.30 per trip.

North Coast Community Transport
Provider: North Antrim Community Transport
Dial a Lift – for registered members. Door to Door Transport is available to registered rural dwellers who are unable or find it difficult to use public transport to local services such as: shopping, clinics, post office, chemist and access to training. Dial a lift CANNOT be used for hospital appointments, Health Trust led Day Centres or school to home transport. Bookings Must be made no later than 4 o’clock on the previous day.
Available – Monday to Friday 8.00 a.m. – 6.00 p.m.
SIF – Funding from Social Investment Fund offers an extension to our operational hours for Dial a Lift and can now provide new and current members with transport to: Shopping Trips, Church / Chapel Services, Further / Higher Education, Training & Employment, Recreation, Hospital appointments – outside operational areas
Extended Hours: Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Saturday & Sunday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Feeder Service – Your local rural transport partnership can provide transport from your door to the bus stop to members who can travel on public transport and want to go outside their operational area.
Group Hire is available to registered ‘Not for Profit’ groups within your Council area. Groups have a choice of having their own driver trained in-house to MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) standard or they can book a paid driver. Groups include: Church, Youth, Sport, Community.

Energy Efficiency Grant Schemes
Provider: Northern Ireland Sustainable Energy Programme
Description: Energy Efficiency Service which may assist clients with accessing loft and C.W insulation, or new heating systems where applicable. This again sometimes involves a home visit, particularly where the client needs help optimising the heat in the home via the heating system. On the same visit a Home Safety service is usually provided. The Home Safety service is a free service for over 65’s which includes check re falls, poisons, fire risk, slips trips. Etc and offer small pieces of equipment such as helping hands (litter pickers), non slip mat, touchlamps etc which are useful if their mobility is restricted. We can refer clients for home security checks, fire safety checks, handy man service, OT, benefits checks, etc.

Boiler Replacement Scheme
Provided by: Power NI
Description: Support to replace boiler for people in owner occupied properties boiler has to be at least 15 years old. Dependent on the household income, if under £20,000 up to £1000 available, households earning between £20,000 and £40,000 can be awarded up to £500. Discounted cavity wall insulation may also be available.

Winter Fuel Payment

Description: Winter Fuel Payments are different from Cold Weather Payments. Winter Fuel Payments are yearly one-off payments to help eligible people pay for their heating in the winter. Winter Fuel Payments are paid to men and women who have reached the minimum age at which a woman can receive a state pension. They are not linked to temperature. This is different to Cold Weather Payments which eligible people may get for each period of very cold weather in their postcode area.

Description: The Fire Service of NI helps support older people to live safely and independently in their own home through a free home fire safety check provided by the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service. The home fire safety checks are carried out by operational fire crews from their local station.

Handyperson service for those aged 60 years or over living in the Ballymena, Larne and Carrickfergus area. Small home repairs and free 'Safe Home Check.' Carried out by Bryson Energy. £10 per hour (maximum of 3 hours) Service does not include emergency repairs and all materials to be supplied by the customer where possible. MEAAP aims to complete job requests within 10 working days.

PSNI Crime Prevention Officer
Provider: Police Service of Northern Ireland
Description: Crime Prevention Officer available to provide home security visits to older/vulnerable people who are experiencing fear of crime or who have been a victim of a burglary. The Crime Prevention Officer can make suggestions to improve the security of the home and gives advice on protection from bogus callers and other criminal activity. Community Groups and other organisations can arrange for the CPO to deliver a Talk on Crime Prevention. Judith Lavery is the PSNI CPO covering Moyle, Ballymoney, Coleraine and Limavady and Gemma Mateer covers Ballymena, Antrim and Larne.

Telecare
Provider: Fold Telecare and the Northern Trust
Description: Fold Telecare, in partnership with the Northern Trust provide a selection of telecare sensor demonstrations to Trust staff and service users/ carers on how the sensors work and interact with each other in a home environment. Assistive technology includes bed occupancy sensors, fall detectors, property exit sensors and smoke detectors. These sensors are programmed to Fold’s 24-hour response centre and any installed sensor will trigger a call.
