Positive Behaviour Support Service

The Positive Behaviour Support Service (PBSS) aims to support people with a learning disability whose behaviour presents significant challenges, by using the least restrictive approaches to enable people to maintain community placements and to lead as ordinary a life as possible. The service is available Trust wide to adults with a learning disability and their carers. The PBSS supports people using the Positive Behaviour Support Model.

The PBSS offer a range of services including consultation meetings, completing comprehensive assessments and developing behaviour support plans. In addition, the service may offer training to staff teams, carers and families in order to increase their understanding of why a person may be displaying challenging behaviour and develop their skills on how to follow specific behaviour support plans.

PBSS staff include a consultant clinical psychologist, behavioural specialists, a highly specialised speech and language therapist, behavioural associates, support workers, and a team secretary.
