Jim Stewart (Chairman)

Jim Stewart, Chairman

Jim Stewart is a former non-executive director of the Eastern Health and Social Services Board and has recently completed a term as Chair of Greenpark Health and Social Services Trust in Belfast. He is currently Managing Director of Training Solutions (NI) Ltd which provides training and development for both public and private sector organisations. He also holds the position of Chair of the Warrenpoint Harbour Authority and has previously been on the boards of LEDU and the Northern Ireland Quality Centre. Jim is also Chairman of Sentinus, a registered charity promoting training in science, engineering and maths in schools in Northern Ireland.

Ms Norma Evans (Chief Executive)

Ms Norma Evans, Chief Executive

Norma Evans was appointed as Chief Executive of Homefirst on 11 October 2004. From 2002 to 2004, she was Chief Executive of Causeway Health and Social Services Trust. She was previously employed at North and West Belfast Trust with responsibilities for learning disability services including Muckamore Abbey Hospital. She trained as a Social Worker and has worked in a range of senior management positions in health and social services over the last twenty years.

Dr Carol Ackah

Dr Carol Ackah MSSc BA MCIPD, Non Executive Director

Carol lives in Lambeg and is a self-employed consultant in Human Resource Management, and has been a lecturer at the University of Ulster. She was a non-executive director of United Hospitals HSS Trust and is also a Local Government Staff Commissioner and an Industrial Tribunal panel member.

Stanley Forsythe

Mr Stanley Forsythe BSc DipEd, Non Executive Director

Stanley lives in Coleraine. Now retired, he was headmaster of Coleraine Academical Institution from 1984-2003 and worked in the education sector for almost 40 years. Stanley was a non-executive director of Causeway HSS Trust.

Bob McCann

Mr Bob McCann BSc FCCA, Non Executive Director

Bob lives in Newtownabbey. He has held a variety of senior positions in Viridian Group PLC (formerly NI Electricity) including Group Financial Controller and Acting Managing Director of Sx3. He is a member of the NI Commission for Children & Young People and a non-executive director of Victim Support NI. He is also a member of the NI General Consumer Council, and was a non-executive director of United Hospitals HSS Trust.

Pamela Montgomery

Ms Pamela Montgomery PhD BA, Non Executive Director

Pamela lives in Greenisland and is a self-employed consultant specialising in strategy and organisational development. Prior to this she worked for Atlantic Philanthropies, as Global Director of Reconciliation and Human Rights. She is a member of the board of governors of the Integrated Education Fund and was a non-executive director of Homefirst Community HSS Trust.

Jim Moore

Mr Jim Moore MBA BA, Non Executive Director

Jim lives in Carrickfergus and is Professional Head of Signaling at Translink, having specific responsibility for the Northern Ireland Railways signaling network. He was previously Operations Manager at Richardson’s Fertiliser Industries. Jim is Chair of the board of governors of a local primary school.

Mervyn Rankin

Mr Mervyn Rankin, Non Executive Director

Mervyn lives in Ahoghill and was Chief Executive of Ballymena Borough Council for 15 years until his retirement in 2006. He is a member of the Advisory Council of Ballymena Family & Addicts Support Group and was the inaugural Chair of Ballymena Peace & Reconciliation Partnership.

Professor Dorothy Whittington

Prof Dorothy Whittington MA Med, Non Executive Director

Until her retirement in 2006, Prof Whittington was Director of Education & Research at North Bristol NHS Trust.  Previously, she was Professor of Health Psychology and Head of the School of Health Science at the University of Ulster, Jordanstown.  Prof Whittington is a current member of the MBA Advisory Group at the University of Bath.

Oscar joined the Health and Social Services in 1991 and was Business Manager at North and West Belfast Trust before becoming in 2005, Assistant Director of Services for People with a Learning Disability. He has some eleven years earlier experience working with Northern Ireland Housing Executive.

Peter Flanagan

Medical Director

Peter was Medical Director, United Hospitals Trust from 2004 and was previously Clinical Director of the Medical Directorate at Antrim Hospital. A graduate of Queen’s University, Belfast, Peter, after training in Care of the Elderly Medicine was appointed Consultant Geriatrician at Braid Valley Hospital, Ballymena in 1989. Then, in addition, from 1996 he worked as a general physician in Antrim Hospital and in 1999 he became Clinical Director of the Medical Directorate at Antrim Hospital.

Neil Guckian

Director of Finance

Neil was Director of Finance in Causeway Trust from 1998. Over the past few years, his role there expanded to include responsibility for Public Relations, Community Dental Services and from 2005 was also Deputy Chief Executive he is a Chartered Accountant with an MBA from the University of Ulster. Neil joined the HPSS in 1991 and became Chief Internal Auditor for the northern area in 1995.

Catherine Hinton

Catherine Hinton

Director of Elective and Acute Services

Catherine was recently Director of Acute Hospital Services with Causeway Trust. From 2003 she was project director for a major nurse staffing review at Causeway. Catherine trained in the North of England as a general nurse and midwife and has a Master's degree in Business Administration from Keele University. She was Interim Director of Operations at the Good Hope hospital in Sutton Coalfield prior to working in Northern Ireland.

Director of Women and Children’s Services/Executive Director Social Work

Glenn, a qualified social worker, was Chief Executive of Craigavon and Banbridge Community Trust from 2004 having held a number of important post including managing services for older people and for people with chronic ill health and/or physical disabilities. In 1996, he was appointed Director of Planning and Information in Homefirst Trust and in 2002 became Director of Mental Health Services.

Director of Human Resources

Jacinta has been the Director of Human Resources in Causeway Trust since September 1998. Previous to this Jacinta has held various positions in the HR field in Causeway from 1988. For ten years prior to this she worked in Personnel services in the Londonderry, Limavady and Strabane Unit of Management. Jacinta is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD and has an MA Degree in Human Resource Management.

Bronagh Scott

Director of Emergency, Primary Care & Older Peoples’ Services/Executive Director, Nursing

Bronagh was Director of Nursing and Allied Health Professions and Deputy Chief Executive of United Hospitals Trust from April 2004. Prior to this she has been Deputy Director of Nursing in the Royal Hospitals Trust, Assistant Director of Acute Hospital Services in Causeway Trust and Commissioning Nurse for Causeway Hospital. Bronagh has a B.Sc. (Hons) Professional Development in Nursing (UUJ) and a M.Sc. Nursing (QUB).

Martin Sloan

Director of Strategic Planning & Performance Management

Martin was Director of Social Care in Homefirst Trust from March 2005 and took responsibility for Estate Services in November 2005. Previous to this he was Director of Planning and Information with Homefirst. Martin joined the trust from the Northern Health and Social Services Board, where he was Head of Information Services. He has a first class honours degree in Computing Science and an MBA (UUJ).
