Glitz and Glam for Eating Disorder Support Group

A ‘Glitz and Glam Ball’ was recently held for the Northern Health and Social Care Trust’s Eating Disorder Support Group called Stamp-ED. The Group provides comfort and support for sufferers and carers in despair due to eating disorders and is open to anyone in the Northern Trust area.

The aim of the Ball was for carers, sufferers and the Northern Trust’s Eating Disorder Service to celebrate their achievements to date and to look forward to the planning of future developments. It also helped raise funds for information leaflets and further provision of training for carers/sufferers and boost the morale of all those involved in organising the event who may be having a difficult time.

130 guests came to support the cause and after a short programme music was provided by some members of Stamp-ED. A good night was had by all.

Imelda McLeod, Clinical Services Manager, Northern Trust said,

“Many individuals not ready for treatment, have found the support group Stamp-ED invaluable. Many people receive Eating Disorder Service treatment in conjunction with support from Stamp-ED and continue to use the support group on discharge from the service and provide support for others. The support that is provided can be a lifeline for sufferers and their families.

“I would like to thank everyone who supported the Ball, particularly the organisers and sponsors.”

Stamp-ED meet on the first Monday of every month at the ASDA Training Room, Junction One, Antrim from 7 pm to 9 pm. Anyone with an eating disorder past or present and their friends or family are welcome to attend. The group is made up of both present and recovered eating disorder sufferers and carers. Eating Disorder Therapists also attend each meeting.
