Cancer Treatment Information Evening
The Northern Trust, in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, is hosting a cancer treatment information evening in Seminar Room 2, Causeway Hospital on Tuesday 17th September at 7pm.
The information evenings are run by the Macmillan Information and Support Manager with support from the Macmillan chemotherapy outreach nurse and Macmillan volunteers. They give an overview of what chemotherapy and radiotherapy entails, the associated side effects and the local support services which are available to both patients and relatives living within the Northern Trust.
Nuala Mallon, Macmillan Information and Support Manager, for the Northern Trust commented: “Undergoing treatment for cancer can be a difficult and worrying time for patient’s, relatives and careers. Having the treatment process explained can sometimes be all you need to help elevate some of those fears”.
A previous cancer treatment information evening was held in Antrim Area hospital on Tuesday 6th August. This event was attended by patients and relatives who were due to commence radiotherapy treatment in the cancer centre in Belfast within the next few months. The information evening gave patients and relatives the opportunity to learn more about the treatment as well as what local support services are available.
A relative who attended the evening commented: “Everyone at the event was very friendly and welcoming. A good start to a long journey”.
Anyone who would like further information or is interested in attending the Information evening on 17th September are asked to call Nuala Mallon on 028 944 24000 ext. 2653 / 07795245435 or email Nuala.mallon@northerntrust.hscni.net
