Northern Trust asking for views of Carers

The Northern Health and Social Care Trust is holding two events this month to hear from anyone who has or is currently caring for someone with a cancer diagnosis. The Trust would like to improve support for carers and would like to hear how best they can identify and support carers during that time when they are caring for a family member or friend.

Anyone interested can attend a meeting in either Antrim or Causeway depending on where they live. The first meeting will be held at 10.00am on Tuesday 22 October in the Holiday Inn, Junction One and the next will be at 10.00am on Thursday 24 October in the Causeway Enterprise Centre in Coleraine.

At the meetings there will be group discussions as to what help and support is needed, the best way to provide this, and when this help and support is most needed

Nuala McErlain, Macmillan Information and Support Manager, for the Northern Trust said: “Carers undertake a significant and very valuable role in helping their relative, friend, and loved one cope with their diagnosis of cancer and subsequent treatment. However, it can be a lonely experience and carers can often feel isolated. The Northern Trust wants to hear from carers to ensure the right support is provided at the right time.”

For further information or to confirm your attendance at the event please contact cancer services on 028 9442 4208.
