Directory of services for older people available
The Northern Trust has developed an online directory of services so that older people can see what services are available in their locality. The directory includes information on community statutory and voluntary services within each of the ten council areas in the Northern Trust. It is hoped it will provide a resource that can be built upon for older people, their families, carers and for Trust staff.
Pamela Craig, Deputy Director for Primary Community Care and Older People’s services commented: “The Trust is committed to integrating local services for the benefit of those older people in the area. The service directory will make it easier to find out more about services available in their area, what they offer, where they are and how you can access them.”
A series of workshops has also been organised to explore opportunities for all organisations to work in partnership for the benefit of Older People in the Northern Trust area. Pamela Craig, continued: “This is an excellent opportunity to allow for meaningful engagement between providers of services, local commissioners and residents/service users, carers and their communities. Anyone interested can come along to the next workshop on Tuesday 4 February 2014, 9.30 am – 12.30 pm – St Swithin’s Parish Hall, Magherafelt.”
The workshops provide an opportunity for organisations to share information and provide updates on Transforming Your Care, Services for Older people, discuss issues identified, consider current and future needs and opportunities. Workshops will also consider how organisations can work together to achieve the best co-ordination of services and appropriate outcomes and identify the mechanisms that would best support these in the Northern Trust locality.
If there is an organisation that you think should be included in the directory or you would like more information please email localitydirectories@northerntrust.hscni.net.
