Volunteers’ Week – Time to say Thank you!
The Northern Trust and Macmillan Cancer Support held an event on Thursday (5 June) to thank those who give their time to help those diagnosed with cancer and life limiting conditions. As part of Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June) a Health for Happiness Workshop and Afternoon Tea was held at Clotworthy House in Antrim.
Funding for the event was kindly provided by Department of Social Development and free resources were given by Volunteer Now.
Following the workshop and afternoon tea, certificates were presented to all the volunteers in attendance and sincere thanks were expressed for their contribution to the Northern Trust Macmillan volunteer service.
Macmillan Volunteer Coordinator for the Northern Trust, Elma McCracken, said: “Our volunteers are a fantastic group of people who add so much to the service which we are able to offer patients and their families. Volunteers’ Week is the perfect time for us to say thank you to them all for what they bring to the Trust.”
Volunteers also expressed how much they gained from their volunteering with one volunteer commenting: “I get great satisfaction out of helping other families through one of the toughest fights they will ever face.”
The Northern Trust Macmillan volunteer service currently involves over 60 volunteers in ten key roles supporting numerous people affected by cancer and other life limiting conditions.
