Warren wins Pharmacy Technician of the Year
Warren Francis, a Specialist Pharmacy Technician (IT support) from the Northern Health and Social Care Trust has been awarded AAH Pharmacy Technician of the Year 2014 for Innovation by the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK.
The award recognised the design of a new pharmacy daily ward ordering IT system. Previously daily orders for pharmaceutical items such as medicines and tablets were raised on the old pharmacy IT system which was a lengthy process for staff. The new system designed by Warren is quicker and easier for staff to use when ordering items for their patients. This new ordering system has been successfully implemented across Northern Trust wards and departments during the past six months.
Warren was appointed to the post of Specialist Pharmacy Technician (IT support) in November 2013, following the implementation of a significant number of IT based systems within the Pharmacy Department in the Northern Trust.
Professor Michael Scott, Head of Pharmacy and Medicines Management, Northern Trust said: “We are thoroughly delighted Warren has been awarded AAH Pharmacy Technician of the Year 2014 and that his hard work and dedication to programme and system improvement for users is being recognised”.
Warren was presented with the award at the annual conference of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK, which was held in Aston University, Birmingham on 13th June 2014. He also received an engraved trophy and a £500 educational bursary.
