Winning design for hand hygiene dispensers
To mark World Hand Hygiene Day on 5 May 2015, the Northern Health and Social Care Trust (NHSCT) in conjunction with its Mental Health and Learning Disabilty Resource Centres, is helping to promote the hand hygiene message.
In a competition open to all those attending Trust resource centres, clients were asked to create a new design for the front of hand sanitisers to promote the hand hygiene message. The winning design, created by James Higgins at Millbrook Resource Centre, Ballymoney, was chosen from all the entries and will now be used on sanitising dispensers in our resource centres for both clients and staff.
The project was led by the Trust Infection Prevention and Control Team with assistance from Bunzl Healthcare, supplier of hand sanitising dispensers in the Trust.
Naomi Baldwin, Lead Nurse Infection Prevention and Control, NHSCT explains: “World Hand Hygiene Day is promoted by the Trust every year to underline just how vital proper hand cleanliness is in helping to prevent the spread of infection”.
“Washing your hands is one of the most effective contributions you can make to public health. The use of soap and water or alcohol based hand gel is recognised as crucial in reducing the spread of infection”.
“Within the Northern Health and Social Care Trust all healthcare facilities are involved in the promotion and practice of good hand hygiene”.
