Elsa wins the HCA Wilma Wilkie outstanding Service Award

Elsa Witherspoon, Community Catering and Domestic Services Manager, Northern Health and Social Care Trust has recently been awarded the HCA Wilma Wilkie Outstanding Service Award.

This award is presented in memory of Wilma Wilkie, a former member of the Hospital Caterers Association, to an outstanding professional who is a member of the association.

At the HCA National Leadership and Development Forum in Glasgow, Elsa was one of seven finalists nominated for this prestigious award and by the end of the evening the award was on its way to Northern Ireland for the very first time.

Maire Bermingham, Assistant Director of Corporate Support Services, Northern Trust said: “Elsa prides herself in her ability to build a team; empowering staff to make decisions that are customer focused and in delivering a quality Catering Service to patients, clients and staff. Accountability is high on her agenda and she has standardised the quality of Community Catering Services over a large Northern Trust geographical area”.

Elsa began her Health service career in catering management as a National Trainee in 1977 and she has worked in catering management posts in all five Trusts in Northern Ireland, covering General, Acute, Psychiatric, Residential Homes, Children’s Homes, Day Centres and Resource Centres.
