Unique event for male family carers
The Northern Health and Social Care Trust is encouraging male family carers to take up the support available to them by attending an event in their area.
A male carer event has been organised in Ballyearl Leisure Centre on Friday 10 June 2016 from 10.30 – 12.30. Speakers will include a community pharmacist who will talk about managing medicines and give information about maintaining health. A psychologist from the Northern Trust will talk about managing stress, and the Northern Trust Carers Co-Ordinator will talk about support services for carers. A free lunch will also be provided.
The Trust recognise the important contribution made by family carers to the care of their loved one with approximately 214,000 family carers in Northern Ireland.
Historically, caring for a family member has been a predominantly female role however, the number of male family carers has steadily risen and now a staggering 43 per cent of family carers in Northern Ireland are male.
The event is suitable for any male carers who have a caring role for someone in their family who is ill, frail or disabled. Pre-booking is essential. To book or for further information please contact anne.fee@northerntrust.hscni.net or ring 028 2766 1392.
