Choose to Live Better Festival 2018

7 February 2018

Mothers and babies in Newtownabbey Breastfeeding Support group received baby vests with the logo ‘mmm my mummy’s milk’ to celebrate the ‘Choose to Live Better Festival 2018’. The vests were gifted by the Health Visiting Team and the Northern Obesity Partnership to support mums in their decision to breastfeed their babies.

Breastfeeding Coordinator Sinéad Lynch explains why it is important to support breastfeeding mothers: “Breastfeeding has huge benefits for mother and baby. The longer a mum feeds the stronger the health benefits for both.”

The Newtownabbey Breastfeeding Support Group meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday 10.30 am – 12 noon in Glengormley Community Services, Carnmoney Road.

Pictured with the group are Health Visitors Geraldine McManus and Yolande Wilson who explains: “Not all mothers attending the group need support but we offer an opportunity for local mums to get together, have a chat, a cuppa and help is available if required.”
