The Northern Health and Social Care Trust will seek the approval of its Board to go out to public consultation on proposals to transform general surgery delivery across its two acute hospital sites, at Antrim Area Hospital and Causeway Hospital.

The Trust Board will hold a public meeting on Thursday 22 August and will consider a recommendation from the Trust’s senior management team to proceed to a public consultation.

Work on transforming the Trust’s general surgery service has been ongoing for some time and there has been extensive engagement with key staff over the last number of months to look at options around a future delivery model.

The Board of the Northern Trust will meet on Thursday morning at the Trust’s Headquarters in Bretten Hall, Antrim Area Hospital.

Details of the public consultation will be published after the meeting.
