‘Managing your medication safely’ is one in a series of podcasts developed by the Northern Health and Social Care Trust Pharmacy Department to help service users understand more about medications that they have been prescribed.
The first episode discusses Direct Oral Anticoagulants (DOACs) – Apixaban, Rivaroxaban, Edoxaban and Dabigatran. It details why the medication has been prescribed, how to take it, side effects that may be experienced and other essential information to ensure the medication is taken safely.
The introduction of the podcast aims to speed up discharges, reduce re-attendances for patient education and improve patient safety and compliance with medication.
