School Immunisation Service
School Immunisations
Routine immunisations for teenagers are available in all post primary schools within the Northern Health and Social Care Trust area.
Parents and carers will be informed of the immunisations that their child is due. It is very important that your child receives the vaccines they need when invited.
If you have any queries about school immunisations, please contact the School Immunisation Team on 028 2531 3151.
Detailed information is available in Public Health Agency leaflets and video.

The School Immunisation Team provides immunisations in all post primary schools across the Northern Health and Social Care Trust area for Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio (school leaving booster) Meningitis ACWY and Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR), in line with the regional childhood immunisation programme.
Human Papilloma Virus (HPV)
HPV immunisation is offered to all year 9 & 10 girls and boys in school and to those who are educated at home. A further opportunity to receive the HPV vaccination is offered during Year 10 if required.
Meningitis ACWY and Diphtheria Tetanus and Polio Booster
Meningitis ACWY and Diphtheria Tetanus and Polio booster is offered to all pupils in Year 11 with a further opportunity to receive these vaccines in Year 12 if required.
Measles Mumps and Rubella (MMR)
MMR protects against measles (M), mumps (M) and rubella (R; German measles). It’s particularly important to check that your MMR immunisation is complete because some young people have not had two doses of MMR. If you think this applies to you, you will be offered your first or second dose at the same time as your Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio and MenACWY. If you have never had the MMR vaccine, you should have one dose now and another in one month.
