Get your house in order as part of Dying Matters Week with the Northern Trust

Do you need advice to help you declutter and plan ahead?

To mark Dying Matters Week from May 8th – 14th, the Northern Health and Social Care Trust and Mid and East Antrim Agewell Partnership have teamed up with professional decluttering duo Order in the House for a special free event at the Braid Arts Theatre in Ballymena on Wednesday 10th May at 7pm.

Members of the public are invited to come along to hear more about about why it’s good to live with less and how to get started. There’ll be an opportunity to look at some useful products and ask your questions about how to sort out the clutter in your life.

As it is Dying Matters Week, you will also hear from Northern Trust professionals about other practical ways that can help you to get your house in order and plan ahead.

Fiona Gilmour, Macmillan Palliative Care Service Improvement Lead for the Northern Trust, explained: “This event will help us think about sorting out the clutter in our homes now. This is not only good for us but it will also help our loved ones in the future. None of us want to think about getting ill or dying, yet none of us want to make things more difficult for our loved ones either.

“It is essential to plan ahead for a time when those closest to us may need to carry out our wishes. We all live busy lives, but we would encourage you to start conversations with your loved ones about what is important to you and what you value most in living and dying. Dying Matters Week encourages us to consider practical ways you can plan ahead. This could include writing a will, making some funeral plans or organising your digital legacy, for example, online accounts and social media.”
