Promoting health and wellbeing with rural women

The Northern Health and Social Care Trust recently held a series of Rural Ladies Evenings in Maine Business Centre, Cullybackey, as a part of a new pilot project.

The events were based around self-care and provided an opportunity to socialise together and learn from the demonstrations on offer.

Yvonne Carson, the Northern Trust’s Rural Health and Wellbeing Manager, said: “One thing the COVID-19 pandemic taught us was that our social wellbeing is very important.  Opportunities to socialise in rural areas can be limited at the best of times so it was great to see so many ladies come together and take some time out for themselves.

“The pilot has been a great success, and feedback has been very positive. It is hoped that other rural groups may think about doing something similar in their own areas.”
