Bereaved parents listening events

Update
The National Bereavement Care Pathway is holding listening events in Coleraine and Antrim as part of an ongoing two- year collaborative project with the Public Health Agency and Sands.
The project’s vision is to achieve equitable care for every bereaved parent and family, at times of pregnancy loss the death of a baby.
It will create a set of five bereavement care pathways with the parent voice at the forefront of each.
- Miscarriage including molar and ectopic pregnancy;
- Termination of pregnancy for fetal anomaly (TOPFA);
- Stillbirth;
- Neonatal death;
- Sudden unexpected death in infancy (SUDI).
The listening events aim to hear the lived experiences of local bereaved women and men related to pregnancy loss (at any gestation) or a baby death (under 24months) first-hand.
We would like to hear specifically about your experience of bereavement care and support, excellent, good, average or otherwise:
• Whilst in hospital;
• Following discharge home;
• Throughout in the next pregnancy (if applicable).
This is your opportunity to share your valued experience with us and help us use your experience to improve the care received by future bereaved families.
Whilst this is not a support group, we recognise that telling your bereavement story may be triggering so a quiet space will be available at each event.
Members of the local HSC Bereavement team and / or chaplaincy team will be available to sit and have a conversation with you and provide you with information as to where you can access further support before leaving the event.
Please note parents who sign up will be sent an information and consent form prior to attending the event.
