Memory book captures 50 years of history at Lisgarel
Do you have any memories of Lisgarel Residential Home in Larne?
As it celebrates 50 years since it first opened back in March 1975, staff are putting together a special memory book to mark the occasion.
Explaining more, Manager Louanne Bakker said: “Over the years there has been many celebrations and happy times in Lisgarel and we’ve been planning for this anniversary for some time. This has included meeting with retired staff and gathering verbal and visual memories from them.
“As part of this, we were delighted to welcome Margaret Dempsey back to Lisgarel, one of the original members of staff here back in 1975. She recalled many happy times and how she enjoyed 25 wonderful years working with residents, staff and families.
“It was a real pleasure to have visitors calling in with us including former colleagues, clergy members and others from within the local community who all have contributed in a unique way to the legacy of Lisgarel.
“So many people have played a vital part in our success through the years and we wanted to acknowledge this as part of our celebrations.
“If anyone else would like to share their stories or cherished moments with us we would love to hear from them so that they can help us make history come alive for future generations.”
