Team North International Nurses Day 2025

This year’s Team North theme for International Nurses Day 2025 is “Caring for nurses and midwives to meet our population needs”.

Nurses and midwives devote significant resources towards caring and showing compassion for others, often faced with numerous challenges: physical, mental, emotional and ethical. So it is imperative that we address these challenges in a way that promotes their overall health, while recognising the importance of caring for ourselves, our colleagues and teams and each other.

By prioritising the wellbeing of nurses and midwives, we are ensuring that they can continue to provide the high-quality care that is critical to the health of our population. To support this, Team North hosted a programme of events, including a week of lunchtime seminars, which began on ‘International Day of the Midwife’ on Monday 5 May and concluded today, on ‘International Nurses Day’ on Monday 12 May 2025.

These seminars were purposefully themed to provide an opportunity to bring live experiences and actionable solutions to the forefront that can be implemented to support nursing and midwifery colleagues in their daily work and to improve their long term health.

To celebrate International Nurses Day, we asked our colleagues to share with us how they care for themselves and their teams, highlighting the positive impact this has on their roles as heath care professionals.

Happy International Nurses Day!
