Performing arts partnership provides opportunities for all

Learning disability service users in the Northern Health and Social Care Trust have taken to the stage as part of a new contracted performing arts partnership.

The exciting programme has been taking place in Larne, Antrim and Coleraine, with professional tutors on hand to guide and inspire participants.

With weekly sessions to look forward to, leading to two biannual performances, the overall aim is to build personal skills, self-esteem and confidence.

Using music, dance and drama, service users explore different forms of emotions and types of characters during the meaningful and fun workshops, under the expertise of providers from the Music Yard, May We and Cmac.

During May, we went along to one of their performances in Coleraine Town Hall, where we heard more from Warren and Barbara Smyth about their son Henry’s involvement in the project.

Watch to learn more about how we’ve helped Henry to build his confidence and make new friends through our continued commitment to providing opportunities for all.
