The Rowan celebrates awards success

The Rowan Sexual Assault Referral Centre was among the winners at the recent GNI Mag awards.

The team collected the Health and Wellbeing award at the ceremony, which was held in Belfast last month.

The annual event recognises those who play a key role in promoting inclusivity while enhancing mental, physical, and emotional health and wellbeing for those within the LGBTQIA+ community, with the winners decided by a public vote.

Thanking all those who showed their support for the centre, Head of Service Joanna Brown said: “The Rowan celebrates diversity and offers an inclusive non-judgmental service to all. We’re very grateful this has been recognised through this award.

“Since we opened back in 2013 we have supported almost 9000 individuals and we are very proud of the excellent standard of specialist care that we provide, often when people are at their most vulnerable.

“Unfortunately, sexual violence continues to be a concern in our society, and we want to remind people that our professional and highly trained staff are here to offer help and advice all year round.”

If you need to reach out, The Rowan is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Please call the freephone helpline on 0800 3894 424.
