Clinical attachments

We are proud to offer a diverse and supportive learning environment for medical students seeking practical experience across a wide range of specialties.

Our clinical attachments provide invaluable opportunities to observe and participate in patient care, guided by experienced clinicians.

Through hands-on exposure and mentorship, students gain essential skills and insights that prepare them for the next stages of their medical careers.

Clinical attachment process

To arrange a clinical attachment, the applicant first contacts a Trust consultant or a SAS doctor to request a placement.

They then complete the application form and statements and send them to HR Workforce Governance.

The clinical supervisor will then be confirmed, and he/she will request proof of the applicant’s vaccination status and, if required, their Access NI check. Please note, an Access NI check will not be required if the attachment is being fully supervised.

Once all details are agreed and internal checks have been complete, a letter confirming the clinical attachment will be sent to the applicant.
