Help and support with breast cancer
A diagnosis and the treatment of breast cancer can affect your life in many different ways. Tell your doctor or Breast Care Nurse Specialist about any concerns you have or if you are experiencing symptoms, as these can often be controlled with treatment.
For information on living with breast cancer, including support groups and a wide variety of information and support service options, please see some of the organisations below:
- Northern Trust Macmillan Information and Support Service
- The Northern Ireland Cancer Network: NICaN
- Pretty ‘n’ pink – Northern Ireland’s only registered breast cancer charity, their aim is to help you and your family cope with and beyond a breast cancer diagnosis. They can provide grants from their support fund towards necessities such as food and home heating, or for family days or outings, visit Pretty ‘n’ pink or call 028 9034 7780
- Breast cancer Now – Support, research and personal stories of those affected by breast cancer. Information booklets including the Vita magazine are available to order or download at breastcancernow.org
- Breast Friends Causeway Coast – Support group held in venues around the North Coast, call 07484144084 or visit their Facebook page at Breast Friends Causeway Coast | Facebook for more information.
- Cancer focus NI – Cancer Focus can provide services including; counselling, art therapy, bra fitting, singing groups & family support. They also run ‘Thrive’ support group for women under 50 with breast cancer.
