Signs and Symptoms of Oesophageal Cancer

The most common symptoms include:

  • Difficulty swallowing – feeling the food sticking in your throat or chest
  • Regurgitation – food coming back up before reaching the stomach
  • Vomiting
  • Pain in the throat or in the middle of your chest when swallowing
  • Heartburn or indigestion that won’t go away
  • A cough
  • A hoarse voice
  • A dull pain behind the breastbone or in the back
  • Weight loss

Signs and Symptoms of Stomach Cancer

The most common symptoms include:

  • Persistent indigestion and heartburn.
  • Trapped wind and frequent burping.
  • Feeling very full or bloated after meals.
  • Persistent stomach pain.
  • Feeling sick.

These symptoms can be caused by other conditions so you should always have them checked out by your doctor. If you have symptoms that do not improve, then it is important that your GP refers you to a specialist who can arrange further tests to find out what the problem is.
