Support from carers, family and friends

We recognise that carers, friends and family have an extremely important part to play in supporting the treatment and recovery of people experiencing a deterioration in their mental health.

We value your expertise and knowledge of the person being cared for and we are keen to work alongside you, the carer, family member or friend and to support you in your vital role.

As a carer you will be offered the opportunity to discuss your concerns with a member of our team. Sometimes people do not give consent for us to discuss or share certain information. However, even when this is the case, we are still able to listen to your concerns and offer support and general advice.

We will involve you with care and treatment plans and will to provide you with information regarding treatments. We will also involve you in the discharge planning process.

Carer assessment

As a carer you have the right to an assessment of your needs and a care plan. We will ensure this takes place in a timely way. You can avail of an assessment at any time or request a review of a previous carer assessment be completed.

Carer information sessions

All carers and family members are invited to register for our carer information sessions.

These sessions are facilitated by staff during the evenings to enable maximum carer participation. Sessions include information about the Home Treatment Service and available treatment options. The sessions also offer practical advice on how to access a range of community supports.

If you would like to register for any of our carer information sessions, please contact the team.
