How much time do I need to give?

  • Minimum commitment: 6 months
  • Most volunteers give a few hours, once a week

Support and training

What support will I receive?

You’ll be supported throughout your role:

  • You’ll have a named supervisor or coordinator
  • Ongoing guidance and support

Will I get training?

Yes, you’ll receive:

  • An introduction and induction
  • Any additional training needed for your role

Flexible options

Can I volunteer from home?

  • Yes, some roles can be done remotely or online.

Will volunteering affect my benefits?

Will I need an Access NI check?

Volunteering vs. work experience

Is volunteering the same as work experience?

No, they are different. Work experience is usually arranged through school or college and is short term. Volunteering is more flexible and ongoing.
