In this video you will see where you can find Northern Trust job adverts and you will be shown step by step guidance on how to complete an HSCNI application from.
We hope that you find this video helpful and easy to follow as you complete your online application form.
To search for a job on the HSCNI recruit website, simply filter the category, organisation and band dropdown options to find jobs you may be interested in.
Once you find a job you’re interested in, click on the job title to view further information such as the branch name, job location, salary, contract type and closing date for application.
Scroll to the bottom of the webpage and click job details and apply in the green box.
This stage is very important. To help you prepare for interview, should you get shortlisted, you will want to refer back to the job description and any essential criteria that was listed.
To access the job description click on the job title which can be found under the ‘Job’ heading or sometimes listed under the ‘Job Summary’.
This will open in a new tab.
Make sure to see if a copy of the document on your device before continuing any further as you will not be able to access the job description after you submit your application.
You can also access further support regarding your application and HSC recruit account by clicking on our help section, which can be found at the bottom of the job listing like this.
Here is what a job description will look like. To find the essential criteria scroll down until you find the page that is entitled ‘Personnel Specification’ and looks like this.
The essential criteria listed in Section1 will determine if you get shortlisted for an interview.
The essential criteria listed in Section 2 will be what your interview questions will be based on. For example, you may get asked a question on your understanding of the importance of confidentiality in the workplace.
If after reading the job specification, you are still wishing to apply, please refer back to the original job listing.
Simply open up the initial tab, scroll to the bottom and hit the green button that says ‘Job Details and Apply’. A new tab will open and in there you should press the ‘Apply’ button.
At this stage you will be asked by the application wizard if you have already registered with us or not. If you have registered before, click on the Application Wizard and fill in your details. If you have not previously registered, click here to set up your account.
To register your details, you will be required to fill in the boxes on this page.
Once registered or signed in, you’re ready to begin the application process. Go back once more to the job listing, press the green button ‘Job Details and Apply’.
Next, press the apply button.
The system will recognise your registration details. Press continue and the application wizard will open.
You will see nine steps to work through. These should be completed in numerical order.
If you wish to take a break from completing the form and come back to it later on, that is no problem. Each time you press the ‘Save and next’ button your progress is saved to the system and can be resumed at a later time.
Once you click on ‘Close’ in the top right-hand corner of the screen, this message will appear to remind you that you haven’t submitted the application yet and that you can come back later to finish it off.
When you return to compete your application, you will need to once again click on the green button on the job listing. Hit ‘Apply’ and then press ‘Continue’. You can then continue from where you left off.
Stage one captures your personal details, including name, address and contact information.
Stage two is where you will list your previous work experience. You can include these by pressing the ‘Add’ button.
Stage three is where you can complete the cover letter. This is where you will tell us where you found out about the job. Simply select one of the options form the dropdown, press ‘Save and Next’.
Stage four is the questionnaire page. Please note you must complete all three tabs by ticking boxes or by selecting more dropdown options.
Tab one is based on equal opportunities information. Tab two is personal declaration and Tab three requires you to declare information on criminal convictions or disabilities.
Stage five is residency and immigration details. Once you click add, the following textbox will appear. Please select the appropriate document from the dropdown option and have it at hand to fill in the details, for example, passport number.
Documents can include birth certificate, passport, adoption certificate, registration certificate, or national identity card.
Stage six is professional registration. Here is where you will add any details of professional bodies you are registered with. This section is optional and we understand that many applicants will not be members of a professional body.
You are now nearly finished with your application form.
Stage seven is where you enter the details of two referees. These must include your current employer or a previous employer. Always ensure you have sought permission from the referees you provide and remind them to respond as soon as possible upon receipt of the reference request form. This will be emailed to them directly once you submit your application.
Stage eight gives you an overview of your application form and is where you can submit it. You can also download a copy of your application at this stage.
If you wish to make any changes, please select the appropriate tab and make your changes before submitting your application.

Once happy, press the yellow button that says ‘Send Application Now’.
Typically it will take approximately seven working days to hear back from our human resources team.
If you have been shortlisted, your interview will be at least two weeks later.
Notifications will be sent by email.
