The Northern Trust is committed to promoting and supporting breastfeeding. We were awarded the UNICEF Baby Friendly Gold Award in 2028 – the highest level of accreditation.

This award recognises the high standards of care provided by our maternity and health visiting teams. Staff are specially trained to give consistent support with breastfeeding and infant feeding.

Our neonatal unit was also the first unit in NI to be fully accredited with standalone Neonatal Baby Friendly Accreditation in June 2021.

Every family is supported by a named midwife and health visitor. They are available to provide help and advice on infant feeding, either in person or by phone.
