The Aston Martin Aramco team brought a touch of Formula One excitement to Antrim Area Hospital, visiting the children’s ward to spend time with young patients.

The team met with children receiving treatment at the hospital, as well as families who are cared for by the Northern Trust’s community children’s team.

Formula One reserve driver Jak Crawford visited the children’s ward, spending time chatting with patients and their families and showing them his racing helmet. The children also had the opportunity to participate in a competition to design their own Formula One racing cap. Visitors to the hospital also had a chance to see a replica F1 car which was parked outside the main entrance for a number of hours.

The ‘pitstop’ at Antrim Area Hospital was part of Aston Martin’s UK-wide Make A Mark tour, where the team visited a number of hospitals as part of its commitment to supporting local communities.

Hospital staff welcomed the visit, Lesley Kennedy, Lead Nurse in Paediatrics, said: “It was a fantastic occasion and there were lots of smiles when Jak arrived on the ward. A hospital stay can be an anxious time for children and their parents, so this was a very welcome distraction for many.

“A few of our patients are Formula One enthusiasts so this was a dream come true for them!

“We are very grateful to the team for making the time to visit us and bring the replica car – it was a very special day for everyone.”
