Wheelchairs are available for public use at visitor entrances at Antrim Area Hospital and Causeway Hospital. Our reception staff are also able to provide you with a wheelchair on request, although pre-booking is not available.
Should you require any additional assistance, please speak to a member of our reception team and our portering team will be able to help.
At Mid Ulster, Moyle, and Whiteabbey hospitals, wheelchairs can be arranged through Reception, similar to Antrim and Causeway hospitals.
Holywell Hospital has wheelchairs in wards.
Dalriada Hospital has two wheelchairs at reception for families to use.
If you are attending at Robinson Hospital, please contact the ward to request a wheelchair.
British Red Cross Wheelchair Loan Scheme
The British Red Cross works in partnership with the health and social care trusts by providing wheelchairs to help people with a mobility or medical need, or to assist people in leaving hospital to recover in their own homes. The service is available to anyone in Northern Ireland who needs a wheelchair for up to 12 weeks.
The service provides a range of comfortable, safe and reliable manual wheelchairs, including self-propelled and attendant propelled.
Wheelchairs are available in a wide range of sizes, suitable from age five years. Accessories such as leg elevators, stump supports, and oxygen holders are also available.
There is no charge for the loan service, but the organisation relies on donations to continue its work.
The British Red Cross has locations throughout Northern Ireland where you can collect or return wheelchairs, for your convenience. There is a £30.00 fee to cover delivery and collection.
