Northern Trust Healthcare Assistant Eleanor Coulter has marked an extraordinary career milestone after five decades in the health service.

Eleanor began her career at Robinson Hospital, Ballymoney, in 1976 and worked there for 44 years before joining the Roddens Residential Home in 2020, where she continues to work shifts today.

Having devoted half a century to health and social care, Eleanor has built a career defined by commitment, compassion and a genuine passion for helping patients and colleagues.

To mark this incredible achievement, Eleanor was invited to a special reception with the Causeway Coast and Glens Mayor Councillor Dawn Huggins, where her 50 years of service were celebrated.

Reflecting on her career, Eleanor said: “It’s hard to believe that I’ve been part of the health service for 50 years. When I first started, I never imagined I would still be here five decades later. It’s been a wonderful journey, and I’ve been fortunate to work with so many fantastic people along the way.

“Being able to make a difference to people’s lives has always meant a great deal to me. I’m incredibly proud of my time at the Robinson Hospital and more recently in the Roddens, and being invited to meet the Mayor to celebrate this milestone with my family was very special.”

Philip Dawson, Manager at the Roddens, praised her long-standing commitment and the positive impact she has had on those around her. “Throughout those 50 years, Eleanor has given so much more than her time – she has given her heart. She is kind, compassionate, caring and incredibly passionate about the work she does. She has gone above and beyond for countless patients and families, leaving a lasting impression on thousands of people lucky enough to have crossed her path.

“Eleanor is not only an outstanding Healthcare Assistant and an exceptional colleague, but an absolutely wonderful person. Her dedication, experience and compassion are an inspiration to everyone who has the privilege of working alongside her.”
