We have launched a new and improved website, designed to make it easier for patients, carers, staff and the wider public to find the information they need.

The redesigned website offers a cleaner layout, clearer navigation and improved accessibility, helping users quickly access key health and social care services across the Northern Trust area. The site has been developed with user experience at its core, ensuring it works effectively across desktop, tablet and mobile devices.

Key improvements include:

  • Simpler navigation to help users find services, contact details and support information more easily
  • Improved accessibility, supporting a better experience for users with disabilities
  • Clearer, more consistent content, written in plain English
  • Mobile-friendly design, allowing access on the go
  • Enhanced search functionality to help users find information quickly

The website also supports the Trust’s ongoing commitment to digital improvement and person-centred care, ensuring information is clear, accessible and up to date for everyone who relies on Trust services.

Speaking about the launch, Joanne Edgar, Head of Corporate Communications, Northern Health and Social Care Trust, said:

“Our new website has been shaped around the needs of the people who use our services. By improving accessibility, navigation and clarity, we aim to make it easier for patients, carers and staff to find trusted information and access the support they need.

“The website will continue to be developed over time, with further improvements planned based on user feedback, accessibility testing and digital best practice.”

Members of the public are encouraged to explore the new website at: www.northerntrust.hscni.net.

Feedback on the site is welcomed and will help inform future improvements.

The new website has been developed in line with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, an internationally recognised standard designed to ensure digital services are accessible to everyone.

Meeting WCAG 2.2 guidelines means that the website will be easier to use for people with disabilities, including those who rely on screen readers, keyboard navigation, voice recognition software or other assistive technologies. It will also benefit users with temporary impairments, learning difficulties, or those accessing information in challenging environments, such as on mobile devices or with slower internet connections.

By working towards these standards, the Trust is helping to ensure that no one is excluded from accessing important health and social care information, supporting equality, independence and a better overall user experience for all.

The Trust’s aim is to ensure that all its website communications are accessible.

Further improvements are planned to help everyone, including people with disabilities, older users, or those with lower digital skills, to access information on the new website.
