Whiteabbey Hospital

Whiteabbey Hospital provides care for patients who need extra support after a stay in an acute hospital. This often includes people recovering from orthopaedic conditions (such as bone or joint injuries) or after a stroke. Patients may receive rehabilitation or further assessment to help with their recovery and ongoing care needs.

Public transport

Translink offers train services to Whiteabbey Train Station. Whiteabbey Hospital is roughly a 10-minute walk from Whiteabbey Train Station. A bus service is also available.

Help with travel costs

You may be able to get help with the cost of travelling to your appointment through the Hospital Travel Costs Scheme.

You could be eligible if:

  • You are on a low income
  • You need treatment at a hospital, health service centre or approved clinic
  • You have been referred by a consultant

Restaurants and cafes

Grapevine Restaurant

  • The Grapevine Restaurant is located at the back of the Whiteabbey Hospital site.
  • Opening hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:30am to 1:30pm.

There is no hospital shop.

Smoke Free Policy

The Northern Trust is a ‘Smoke Free’ Trust, in line with Government regulations. Smoke free means that smoking, including using electronic cigarettes, is not permitted in any areas of the Northern Trust, including all buildings, doorways, grounds, cars and car parks.  There are some very limited exemption arrangements which are consistent with current legislation and regulation.
