Neurology services

Neurology is a medical speciality that focuses on conditions that affect the brain, spinal cord and nervous system.

Neurology care focuses on diagnosing, treating, and managing conditions through specialist assessment, advanced testing, and personalised treatment to support patients in maintaining or improving neurological health and quality of life.

Neurology Nursing Services

The neurology nurses work in collaboration with other health care professionals such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and medical teams including local and regional consultant neurologists, geriatricians and GPs. We have a number of Neurology Nursing Services to offer condition specific support:

Epilepsy Nursing Service

We are currently undergoing work to develop a new epilepsy nursing service for adult living with Epilepsy, aiming to have this open to referral from Consultant Neurologists by end of Summer 2026.

Neurological Care Advice Service

The Neurological Care Advice Service offers information, advice and support for adults living with a neurological condition. It is based in Belfast and serves users across Northern Ireland.

As a patient, relative or carer there will be times when you need to turn to someone for advice, information or support.  You may be looking for information about relevant charities and voluntary services for people with neurological conditions, answers to access and mobility questions, or information on sports and leisure activities in Northern Ireland.  You may need help with sorting out a neurological-related problem or finding the telephone number of someone that can help.

The Neurological Care Advice Service can help. It offers a friendly, free and confidential service and acts as a single point of contact to help guide users through the range of services available in Northern Ireland.

The service is available to any adult diagnosed with a neurological condition, their relatives or carers – Monday to Friday 9:00am to 4:30pm, with an answerphone service available out of hours and bank holidays.

Please note the Neurological Care Advice Service does not provide medical advice. It is important that you raise any concerns regarding your care or medication with your GP or specialist nurse.
