The Community Occupational Therapy Adult Learning Disability Service supports adults aged 18 and over who have a diagnosed learning disability.
Our occupational therapists work alongside other health and social care professionals to help people develop skills, increase independence and participate as fully as possible in everyday life.
The service is delivered through community teams based in:
- Antrim/Ballymena
- East Antrim
- Mid Ulster
- Causeway
How we can help
We work with individuals, families and carers to identify goals and provide support that promotes independence, choice and wellbeing.
- Support may include:
- Advice on daily living skills and independent living
- Recommendations for minor and major home adaptations
- Assessment and provision of specialist equipment
- Complex seating assessments
- Wheelchair assessments and support
- Programmes to develop independent living skills
This service also supports people with a learning disability who may benefit from adult placement services or short-break opportunities.
Occupational therapists assess individual needs and provide recommendations to help ensure the most suitable support arrangements are in place.
