Recovery Occupational Therapy provides short-term rehabilitation and support to help people regain their independence after illness, injury or a stay in hospital.
We work with individuals to improve their ability to carry out everyday activities and achieve their personal goals. Our aim is to help people recover, remain independent for as long as possible, and improve their quality of life.
How we can help
The Recovery Service offers a range of rehabilitation and support options, including:
- Community bed-based rehabilitation – rehabilitation provided in a community setting for people who need additional support before returning home.
- Home-based rehabilitation – support and therapy delivered in your own home.
- Reablement – short-term support to help you regain skills and confidence in everyday activities.
- Community stroke rehabilitation – specialist rehabilitation for people recovering from a stroke.
Who can use the service?
The service is available to people who would benefit from rehabilitation and support to improve their independence.
You may be referred to the Recovery Service:
- Following discharge from an acute, sub-acute or regional hospital
- From a community setting, including your own home
- Following a change in your health or ability to manage daily activities
The most appropriate rehabilitation pathway will be chosen based on your individual needs, level of independence, rehabilitation potential and support requirements.
