‘Managing your medication safely’ is a podcast series from the Northern Health and Social Care Trust Pharmacy Department. It’s designed to help you better understand the medicines you’ve been prescribed and how to use them safely.
Episode 1 focuses on a group of medicines called Direct Oral Anticoagulants (DOACs), including:
- Apixaban
- Rivaroxaban
- Edoxaban
- Dabigatran
In this episode you’ll learn:
- Why you have been prescribed these medicines

- Possible side effects to look out for
- Important safety advice to help you use them correctly
Our podcast series aims to help you feel more confident managing your medication at home and support a quicker and safer discharge from hospital. It also aims to reduce the need for repeat visits for medication advice and improve safety and ensure medicines are taken as prescribed.
