The mental health physiotherapy team support people experiencing mental health difficulties in the Northern Trust acute mental health facilities. Physiotherapy Technical Instructor (TI) support staff are also part of the team, supporting the physiotherapists in their assessments and interventions.
Physiotherapists will assess and treat physical health problems and encourage independence for service users. As physical activity can improve both physical and mental wellbeing, the team also run exercise programmes to encourage activity and aid mental health recovery.
