Paediatric physiotherapists help babies, children and young people improve their movement, strength and physical development. This includes children of all ages, from premature babies through to teenagers.
This service is provided in a range of settings to meet each child’s needs, including:
- child development centres in Antrim and Ballymoney
- special schools and mainstream schools
- children’s homes
- respite care settings
- outpatient clinics
- paediatric wards at Antrim Area Hospital and Causeway Hospital
- the neonatal unit at Antrim Area Hospital

How to access this service
To use this service, you need a referral from a healthcare professional. We accept referrals from:
- a hospital doctor (consultant or registrar)
- a community paediatrician
- a GP (family doctor)
- an allied health professional (such as a physiotherapist or occupational therapist)
- a community children’s nurse
