Physiotherapy for adults with learning disability

We provide physiotherapy as part of a team of health and social care professionals who support adults who have been diagnosed with a learning disability and are unable to access mainstream physiotherapy services with reasonable adjustments.

Physiotherapy Technical Instructor (TI) support staff are also part of the team, supporting the physiotherapists in their assessments and interventions.

Physiotherapists can:

  • assess movement, strength and physical ability
  • support people with physical difficulties or health conditions
  • help improve activity, mobility and independence in everyday life
  • Support 24 hour postural management
  • Monitor and treat respiratory needs
