Musculoskeletal Podiatry (MSK)

Musculoskeletal (MSK) podiatry focuses on problems affecting the muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments and structure of the lower limbs (feet and legs). We see patients of all ages and provide services across the Trust area.

We work closely with physiotherapists in outpatient clinics and accept referrals from GPs and other healthcare professionals.

What to expect

During your appointment, a specialist podiatrist will assess your condition, provide a diagnosis, and create a personalised treatment plan. This may include:

  • Stretching, stability and strengthening exercises
  • Strapping or splinting
  • Advice on suitable footwear
  • Insoles or orthotics
  • Referral to another service if needed

For more complex movement or walking issues, we have a specialist gait lab based at Ballymena Health and Care Centre.
