Family Assessment Centres provide a safe and supportive place for families who need extra help. You will usually be referred to this service by your child’s social worker.
The service aims to:
- Support families and help build confidence in parenting
- Identify and work through any concerns about a child’s care
- Help families develop the skills they need to look after their children
Social workers work closely with families during the assessment. This may include:
- Offering practical support and advice
- Carrying out assessments to understand what help is needed
- Providing therapeutic support where appropriate
The service works in partnership with families and other professionals to achieve the best possible outcomes for children.
